You do not have to choose between the hexagram and the spreadsheet. Here is a practical workflow for combining I-Ching with football stats — the way our engine does it.
Start with the numbers: recent form (last 5-6), xG for and against, home/away splits, head-to-head record, injuries and suspensions. This is the factual foundation — it tells you what has been happening.
Cast the match reading (or use our daily report): hexagram pair, five-element balance, moving line, confidence delta. This adds the 'moment' dimension — what the kickoff time and team identities contribute beyond the history.
When stats and hexagram agree, confidence is justified. When they conflict — stats say home dominance but the hexagram shows an unfavorable moving line — the tension itself is the insight: flag the match for volatility and watch it closely.
Record readings and outcomes. Over a season, your own dataset will tell you how the two lenses interact in practice. That is what we did — 37,725 matches later, the method is calibrated, and the numbers are published honestly in our methodology article.
